Hi forum! first of all I appreciate the enormous effort you make with your contributions. I wanted to ask, is there a particular way to capture a particular TV signal?
I've been trying to find the US FMC channel for a long time but I only saw it once months ago somewhere else and it was expired. Or if you can recommend tools to capture signals, I am currently using PF1.20, but I know it is just a drop in an ocean of many more things that can be learned. Thanks so much.

Hey!

Yeah, FMC (FX Movie Channel) — that one’s a rare catch. You almost never find it in the open. If you saw it once and it vanished — probably someone shared the stream for a few hours and then it died. That’s how it usually goes.
PF1.20 — that’s more like a starter tool, really basic. There are way more powerful options depending on what you're doing — IPTV, satellite, torrents?
Here’s what you can try:

IPTV / Streams:
TiviMate – Great IPTV player for Android TV. Doesn’t record, but handles playlists like a champ.
OTT Navigator – Alternative to TiviMate, more control over sorting, grouping, etc.
VLC – Just drop your m3u in there. You can even record streams via Media > Convert/Save.
FFmpeg – For more advanced use. Records directly from stream:

Streamlink – Pulls the stream and launches it in VLC:

Satellite (if you’ve got the hardware):

Something like a TBS 5520SE USB tuner, or an internal PCI card + dish.
Software: DVB Dream, ProgDVB, SmartDVB – all good for scanning, viewing, and recording.
If the channel is encrypted — you’ll probably need cardsharing (you know what I mean ).

Where to look for streams:
Github, Pastebin, Reddit – sometimes people post IPTV playlists there. Just don’t expect them to live long.

Some Telegram groups drop working links or even dump full TV recordings.
Use something like IPTV Checker to scan playlists and remove dead links.
If you want to schedule and record stuff — look into TVHeadend or xTeVe. A bit more complex, but powerful once you set it up.

Hey there!
I was actually referring to FMC (Family Movie Classics), a channel similar to TCM, and apparently even more difficult to find than FXM.
I only found it once in one of the many lists posted on Telegram, and that link was broken, along with its entire playlist. Plus, that Telegram group stopped updating months ago, which led me to step out of my comfort zone and do more research on this topic.

I'm currently using: PotPlayer on PC to quickly check links and play; PF1.20 as I said before; open-epg.com to customize my EPGs; and PlaylistEditorIPTV for more thorough checking and to create my personalized lists with categories, EPGs, channel names, icons, etc. And then my personalized list goes to the Televizo app on Android TV to be enjoyed :)

For now, my goal is to find out if it's possible to get a specific signal, and how to get my own lists like the ones published here, and not rely so heavily on other sources because when they're published on more open sites like GitHub, I never find them working.
Can they be obtained with hardware similar to what you mentioned? Or is it more software-related?
