Say hello to your new favorite AI overlord: Apple TV+’s Killerbots has officially launched with a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes , proving that killer robots can be both deadly and delightful.
The sci-fi series — based on Martha Wells’ beloved Murderbot Diaries books — premiered its first two episodes today, with new episodes dropping every Friday for a total of 10 half-hour installments . No Ukrainian dub yet (sadly), but subtitles are available for those who like their robot sarcasm subtitled.
🚀 What’s This Killerbot Got Against Bosses?
At the center of the story is a deadly corporate-owned android rented out to protect a team of squishy humans exploring some distant corner of space. But instead of being a good little bot and obeying orders, our protagonist hacks his own governor module to gain a bit of sweet, sweet autonomy.
And what does he do with this newfound freedom?
Watches soap operas.
Yes, that’s right. This hulking murder machine spends most of its time hiding behind rocks, avoiding danger, and binge-watching space dramas while grumbling about how annoying humans are. If Terminator and The Office had a baby, it would be Killerbots .
🎭 Alexander Skarsgård Plays The Deadpan Android We Didn’t Know We Needed
Oscar-nominated actor Alexander Skarsgård (Big Little Lies , Succession ) voices the titular bot — and while his interpretation is quite different from what many book readers imagined, critics are loving it.
“Skarsgård isn’t the Murderbot I pictured while reading the books,” said Daniel Fienberg of The Hollywood Reporter .
“But after ten episodes, his take became incredibly compelling.”
Which is high praise indeed, especially considering the bot only wants to watch TV and avoid drama — which, naturally, never works out.
👥 Supporting Cast? Also Packed With Stars
Joining Skarsgård is an impressive lineup:
- Noma Dumezweni (The Nevers )
- David Dastmalchian (Ant-Man )
- Sabrina Wu
- Akshay Khanna
- Tattiawna Jones
- Tantoo Cardinal
The showrunners are Chris and Paul Weitz (American Pie , About a Boy ), and executive producing is David S. Goyer , the man behind Foundation and The Dark Knight trilogy. So yeah — this is not your average streaming show.
🍅 Critics Are In Love With A Robot
With an initial 100% on Rotten Tomatoes (now slightly dipped to 98%, but still glowing), Killerbots is already one of Apple TV+’s most critically acclaimed shows.
Critics praise its clever writing, dry humor, and surprisingly emotional core — all wrapped up in a killer robot who just wants peace, quiet, and more episodes of Space Visions of the Galactic Elite .
📺 Apple TV+ Is Building A Sci-Fi Empire
Killerbots joins Apple TV+’s growing slate of sci-fi hits like:
- Foundation (returning for Season 3)
- Severance
- Invasion
- Silicon Valley (if you count satire as sci-fi)
And if rumors are true, we might also get an adaptation of William Gibson’s cyberpunk classic Neuromancer soon.
So if you’re into smart, character-driven sci-fi with plenty of existential dread and sarcastic bots — Killerbots might just be your next obsession.
