The Witcher Season 5: The Wild Hunt Is Back – And This Time It’s Personal

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the Continent…

Netflix has officially confirmed (well, sort of) that the Wild Hunt will return in Season 5 , the final season of The Witcher . According to insider reports from Redanian Intelligence , Season 5 will wrap up some of the lingering threads from Season 2 — especially the unresolved story of Aen Elle , interdimensional travel, and one very angry elf named Eredin Bréacc Glas .

But hold your horses — or should we say, your flying elven stallions?

This version of the Wild Hunt is going to be very different from what fans know from Andrzej Sapkowski’s books. In the original lore, Eredin leads a spectral cavalry through the skies, hunting down those who break ancient laws — usually while looking extremely cool and slightly annoyed.

In Netflix’s version? He’s more like a tragic heartbroken warrior chasing Ciri across timelines , not because she broke cosmic law — but because he wants to go home and reunite with his lover, Bryan (yes, spelled like that).

🌌 So What Happened To The Original Lore?

Let’s face it — Netflix took the source material, gave it a strong espresso shot of creative freedom, and said:

“What if… we made Eredin less ‘ancient elven specter’ and more ‘emo space elf on a mission?’”

In the books, Eredin serves King Auberon of Aen Elle , a parallel world full of high elves, magic, and dramatic poetry. Ciri ends up there thanks to her reality-bending powers, stays for a while, then escapes — and Eredin hunts her across dimensions because she’s basically his personal GPS.

But in Netflix’s universe, Aen Elle is gone , King Auberon never showed up , and instead, Eredin got stuck in an empty wasteland after the Conjunction of the Spheres . Now he’s out for revenge, redemption, or possibly just Wi-Fi — we’re still figuring it out.

And yes, this means huge chunks of Lady of the Lake , the novel where most of this backstory comes from, had to be reworked or thrown into the fire pit. Which also means we’re probably getting a lot of new original content — potentially including new characters, new conflicts, and possibly even new hairstyles for Eredin.

⚔️ So How Will It All End?

Hard to say — but here’s what we do know:

  • Season 4 is currently in post-production and set to drop later this year.
  • Season 5 , the final season, will bring everything to a head — including Ciri’s fate, Geralt’s destiny, and whether Yennefer finally gets her own theme song.
  • And yes — the Wild Hunt is coming back , likely as a major antagonist force in the final chapters.

Will it be faithful to the books? Probably not. But let’s be real — the show already rewrote half the timeline, merged multiple characters, and turned Fringilla into someone who actually matters.

So why stop now?

🔮 What To Expect From The Final Season

  • More interdimensional drama
  • Less Oborics, more emotional stakes
  • Possibly a bittersweet ending that makes everyone cry (or at least sigh dramatically)
  • A final showdown between Ciri and Eredin — which might end with a hug, a sword fight, or both

Also, fingers crossed we get a cameo from King Auberon or any of the Aen Elle elves — just so book fans can feel seen.

📅 What About Season 4?

Before we dive into Season 5, we’ve still got Season 4 to look forward to — currently in post-production and expected to arrive later this year.

It will pick up right where Season 3 left off:
Geralt and Yennefer searching for Ciri, who’s off doing whatever powerful witcher girls do when they’re lost in time and space.

Expect emotional reunions, magical chaos, and maybe — just maybe — some decent armor for Ciri.

💬 Final Thoughts: The Hunt Is On

Netflix’s The Witcher may have taken a few liberties with the lore, but if Season 5 delivers a satisfying conclusion to Ciri’s arc — with the Wild Hunt playing a central role — it could end its run on a high note.

Whether you’re a die-hard book fan or just here for the monster battles and Henry Cavill’s cheekbones, one thing’s for sure:

The Wild Hunt is coming.
The final season is here.
And someone better update the map , because no one seems to be in the same dimension anymore.
