The Last of Us star has opened up — and honestly, it’s about time people just let them breathe.
Bella Ramsey, who rose to fame slicing zombies and stealing scenes in The Last of Us and Game of Thrones, has publicly come out as non-binary. In a candid and thoughtful interview, the young actor admitted they wrestled with the decision for a while — mostly because, you know, the internet exists.

And… well, it kind of did. But I didn’t fully understand the impact back then. Still, so many people have told me my coming out meant something to them. That makes it all worthwhile.”
Subtlety? Yes please.
Ramsey is happy to talk about their identity — but they’d also really like not to become the face of gender conversations every time they walk into a room.
“I’m fine discussing it,” they said, “but I don’t want my non-binary identity to be the main character all the time. It’s just part of who I am. I’d love if everyone else could treat it that way too.”
Still slaying — now with more pronouns
These days, Bella is busy leading Season 2 of HBO’s The Last of Us, which premiered on April 13, 2025. The mega-hit series, based on the legendary PlayStation game, remains one of the most talked-about shows on the platform. And yes — Pedro Pascal is still there, still brooding, still being Joel.
So while Bella Ramsey may have come out, they’re not going anywhere — except maybe straight into another Emmy nomination.
